Lorenzo "Otagron" Di Vincenzo

Holding up for the sake of freedom, few against the many without remorse or regret. Men's freedom has been challenged throughout history, and there were those that fought for it, bled and died for it. The Italian Black Metal band, Sirrush, wanted to make history remembered, in particular for the courage for the ideal. Following the release of their new "Molon Labe", Steinmetal had a talk with the band's Lorenzo Di Vincenzo, also known as Otagron, to find out more about the historical meaning and importance of freedom.

Self-damaging isn't a new thing, it is part of use, whether mentally or physically. Sustaining such damage for a long period of time, at times cannot be understood as a risk, only later on, growing up, and the repercussions appear in waves. Raising the notion about human damage, in various ways, there is the Heavy / Thrash Metal band, Gomorra, setting of with a heavier album titled "Dealer Of Souls". In the modern world, where social media has a grasp that is more or less untouchable, consummation of opinions is at a mass, but does it benefit us in the long run? Creating divisions between people might give a different impression of what is to be a path forward for mankind. Concerns and a first statement comes from the newly emerging band, Mythosphere, teaming up Doom Metal heroes to create something different. Steinmetal had a good talk with Dana Ortt of the band to understand what is going proggy this time around.

Sworn Enemy

Back in September 2022, I went to the Anthrax 40^th anniversary show at the O2 Academy in Birmingham. Shockingly, it wasn't the dulcet tones of Joey Belladonna that had me transfixed, nor was it the rambunctious charm of Municipal Waste's Tony Foresta that grabbed me; it was the glorious ferocity of Sworn Enemy and the infectious savagery of the band's vocalist Sal LoCoco that mesmerised me and left me gobsmacked. The sheer brutality that emanated from Sal's lungs could've rivalled the force of a fleet of jet engines, so being naturally drawn to the more aggressive, violent side of life, I jumped at the opportunity to interview him on behalf of Metal Temple.

With a set of pipes on him that could melt your face off quicker than acid, Sal is a gentle giant - coming in at an impressive 6ft 4" - in real life and comes across as a man of pensive thought and few words, and someone worth listening to when he's got something to say. His hardcore prowess speaks volumes without him having to say too much, and his passionate music speaks for itself. So, how does a band that cut its teeth in hardcore over twenty-five years ago continue to grow? What gets a hardcore vocalist riled up enough to metaphorically break stuff in his music? And is life always on the loud side of things? Read on to find out how the band has evolved, the influences behind the music, and to dig in to find out more about the man behind twenty-five year of Sworn Enemy's uncompromising audial violence.

Meet THE MISER, a groovy, rock 'n' roll influenced, stoner-type, brawny band from the UK, who pack their artillery full of thick, chonky riffs. These guys manage to make misery sound fun, focusing on gloriously dark thematic to fuel their burning embers, infusing nasty hooks, and whopping melodies to get their macabre fire roaring.

Our Editor, Leanne "Metal Maiden" Evans, spoke with Scott (Guitars) and Matty (Bass) to talk about the band's recent single, "House on the Hill", and to delve into why us metalheads adore the dark and all things death, and a few other "outside the box" ideas in between.

JIMMY B & THE DEATH RATTLES are a 5 piece hard rock band from Southampton and Gosport, who became established in 2018. While lead guitarist & songwriter Aneurin Graystock and drummer & songwriter Kris Driver are absent rocking around elsewhere for this interview, present today is rhythm guitarist & songwriter Dave Payne, along with keyboard/synth/piano player & songwriter Joanna Thorn, and lead vocalist & songwriter Adam Humphries who join Metal Temple's Co-Editor In Chief Jojo "Rocket Queen" Hamilton to shed some light on the band.

Aspiring to be more than the regular, to be thunderous and explosive, to be a little provocative and not politically correct, that is more or less Heavy Metal. It is true that times changed, and the rebellious nature of the genre faded, and it got a somewhat in line with the times, nevertheless, the spirit never really died, and is there, still kicking, even in lower octaves. Stating the fact that there are thrills, kicks and screams, there is Blackrain. Their nature is that being wild and free can cross decades, and even centuries. Recently coming up with "Untamed", the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal flames burn bright with each chord and chorus. Steinmetal had a great talk with Swan of the band about the nature of the music, what is going on now and there is digestion involved too.

The phrase out of the darkness and into the light isn't merely by Kreator, it has a much deeper meaning when a person attempts to overcome hardship. It is not about escaping from a certain fate, but challenging one's self in order not to have a written future. Finding ways out of the dark, there is the positivity that lies within the Swedish Freternia Metallers. Recently releasing their new "The Final Stand", they proved that their conviction is might and their Metal is just. Getting back together as a band doesn't always mean that the whole pack is going for it. Like everything in our lives, there are these inner politics within people, at times resulting into partnerships to be dissolved. The legendary old schoolers Leatherwolf, similar to a handful of bands that have been coming back, suffered from the same thing, but eventually returned. Luckily for the world of Metal that their music triumphed. Recently releasing their new "Kill The Hunted", the knives are sharper then even, as well as the band's precision. Take the chance today or else regret it tomorrow. Why not start something that the heart years for so long? That is a big question, as life are unexpected, at least not always like that, so maybe that question is in order. Seventh Angel's Simon Bibby, which is also the sole creator of the new Doom Metal project, Thy Listless Heart, thought that it was about time to take that step, and fulfil a vision. He did that quite well by releasing the latter's debut record, "Pilgrims on the Path of No Return". Being fortunate enough to know Kieran on a personal level, Metal Temple writer Fred Bonanno was able to spend some time with him while on his holiday break from his hectic touring schedule and answer a few questions.

The word "genius" is probably tossed around too easily in describing musicians and their work, but in this case, it's a perfect fit, GEOFF TATE, the gifted singer and songwriter that has helped create some of the most ICONIC work in heavy metal while a member of QUEENSRYCHE and now his solo band OPERATION MINCRIME. Metal Temple writer Fred Bonanno was able to sit down over a few glasses of wine from Geoff's own wine company INSANIA and talk about his remarkable career and a few off-the- wall topics as well.

Nevertheless, and other than trusting only yourself, things can happen, and the die-harders can be found and become one with the vision. The German Metallers, Starchild, led by Sandro Giampietro, have a challenge over the years, yet the dream never stopped. Coming up with the new album, "Battle Of Eternity", things started to heat up, with a lot of a to put out for the public to digest. Steinmetal had a good talk with Sandro about the experience.

As if they never really left, never really disbanded, just went into a deep slumber and just knew when to return. Timing is everything as it seems, and right when Traditional Metal is back to its rightful recognition, among the many sub-genres under Metal music. The US Heavy Metal band Incursion, hasn't been around much since their disbandment in 1986, returning just before Covid in 2020, was the flick of the switch the lit match to restart everything. With the release of their debut album, "Blinding Force", Steinmetal had to find out more from the band's veteran, Michael Lashinsky.

Dutch death-influenced thrash band INFANTRY dropped their second-full length album "Terminal Society" back in August. It's a slab of militant, aggressive no-holds-barred metal that questions man's ability to live without death, hatred and destruction and finds that the answer is a resounding NO. Metal Temple writer SJ Loschi had the opportunity to discuss INFANTRY's quest for world domination with their bass player Andrea Serra.

Every aspect of life can be written into becoming a song, well that is pretty much a known fact, and there shouldn't always be a fine line that unites the songs. When it comes to the band Bark, and their new album, "Rambler Of Aeons", it is about a memorial, remembering people that were dear and passed away. Nonetheless, there is enough dealing with present troubles to have one digesting bit by bit. When the dust settles, there is a light that shines through, with the capability to banish the leftover damage and inflict hope on those in need. That can be rendered as a utopian state of mind, or thought, but it is rather logical. Hope was never for sale, nor will it ever be, it has to be longed for and believed in. The Italian Power Metallers of Stranger Vision find comfort in the notion that hope exists and it can be reached. Inspired to create their new album "Wasteland", another journey is underway, with a lot to discover about mankind and more. Steinmetal had another talk with Riccardo Toni and Ivan Adami about the nature of the new album and how Stranger Vision changed.

To rise up again, and to become stronger, not every person can do it, needless to say, survive what lies ahead. It is a matter of will, the motivation to become better even if there is chance to falter. Taking on the pagan approach towards the extremity of the blackened arts of Metal music, there is Timor Et Tremor. There is a variety of things that can be experienced through their music, and their new album "Realm Of Ashes" is a pure reflection of what is going on in a lot of people's lives, the fall, and the rise from the ashes. Alex Rossi is a one man, musical machine from Tuscany, Italy. His latest band KONQUEST released their second album "Time and Tyranny" in October of 2022 (see Metal Temple revew from November 7, rated 9/10) where Alex wrote and sings all the songs, plays all the instruments as well as all studio mixing. Despite his hectic schedule, Alex was able to take some time and answer a few questions for writer Fred Bonanno.

After having a successful start with releasing the debut album "Essentia" and subsequently signing to Italian Metal label Rockshots Records, the pandemic did not stop Victoria in writing new music, and in October 2022 the concept album "Kore" has been released which is built around the Greek mythology.
