Demonic Heart
PatriarcH
My advice to all the lovers of Thrash Metal mixed with Power Metal, step outside the Bay Area and Teutonic regions, and enter the Lowlands. You will find a lot of gems there, and this PATRIARCH album “Demonic Heart” is just one of those.

The Soil Throne
Malediction
...the EP is one big throbbing pulsation of earworm melodies, gritty, aggressive gutturals, and centred on an abundance of technical proficiency and stifling atmospherics

“XI” is a mixture of heavy guitars, bombastic orchestral arrangements, and it is one of the best symphonic Metal albums in 2023
The Path of Decoherence
Advocacy
The band brings every cooking utensil to the table that they can get their hands on, but each one pulls the sounds further apart. Cohesion is what is lacking for me, but not the band’s musicianship. Still, they bring a sound that I haven’t heard before, and they are one turn away from putting the pieces together.
Helfro – Tálgröf
Helfro – Tálgröf
This was a very well put together slab of Black Metal that is steeped in the traditions of the genre, but also rings with a modern flair. I have mentioned the musicianship a few times, and it is strong. The production could be better, but this is an album for purists as well as those who like to experiment a little.
Code Red
Primal Fear
PRIMAL FEAR are still on top of their game and “Code Red” is one of the Heavy Metal highlights of the year so far
Tempest
Glacier Eater
“Tempest” is a melodic Thrash Metal album with some doomy twists, driven by the guitars and a crushing bass

MISTYFICA blend powerful guitar riffing with string-driven orchestrations which contributes to a heavy and bombastic symphonic Metal sound

Cadaver
“The Age Of The Offended” is for Death Metal fans, who love Black and Thrash Metal twists
A Dark Euphony
Blackbriar
"A Dark Euphony” is for fans of melodic Metal with orchestral arrangements

Life, Liberty, Death

Unending Ascending
Gong
On one level, I can’t decide if the Stoner vibes are real or not, but therein lies the album’s secret. It’s a very personal listening experience where the band let’s you into their existence a little. Some of the songs had an odd vibe for me, but overall, it was good.
Aawks – Luna
Aawks – Luna
Purple smoke is indeed a pretty good description of the band. The smoke part comes from their use of herb, while purple hues often represent magic, extravagance, peace, pride, independence, and wealth. I can literally picture the band in extravagant robes, pipe in tow, emerging from a den of iniquity. This album has an old school flair with a modern touch.
Almost Human
Wormhole
The songs are very short, because they are jam packed with material so dense, they would seem unbreakable. The gutturals are deep, their Death Metal sound is rich, and they toy with meter changes like a genius assigned a menial task.
Outside the Spiral
Till The Dirt
I can see why the band are signed to the biggest label in the Metal industry, because they clearly have talent, and they have found a unique style to land on, which is more than half the battle these days. But, the odd combination of sounds did not work well for me. It felt disjointed, and non-committal to me.
Dominus Meus
Kalmo
I found the album to be a spiraling trip to the dark corners of your mind, where cobwebs grow, and areas that you haven’t visited in some time but keep locked away. In these dark corners, you can hear footsteps approaching, but they never reach their destination. The album has potential, if the artist can season the songs with a little more flavor.

Jurupary
Vocifer
it is a case of enjoying every sound, every sound and all the Power and Heavy Metal that “Jurupary” has in store for us. And yes, the Pony Metal does pop up from time to time, but only when appropriate. But is has to be said, the mix used by VOCIFER throughout these songs is almost mesmerising.
To The Wolves
Stitched Up Heart
I can hear that the talent is there, I just feel that the songs sound too familiar, as if they’ve been done before.
