Stories To Forget
Words Of Farewell
“Stories To Forget” is a bag of everything ranging from heavy and powerful to overly melodic and melancholic parts
Killing For Revenge
Six Feet Under
“Killing For Revenge” is a fast, aggressive, and intense hammering anf one of the Death Metal highlights of 2024 so far
Condemned to the Breaking Wheel
Ischemic
In Doom Metal, it’s all about the riff. These are sturdy, gloomy riffs that stand up to the test of time. I have always maintained that Doom Metal is best with harsh vocals, because it helps to stack the cards on the darker side of the aisle. Here you will get despair stacked on top of despondence, stacked on top of hopelessness.
The Continuous Nothing
Coffin Curse
Chilean Death Metal
Punished by Nemesis
Stress Angel
Call it getting back to basics, call it an inoculation against the watered down, mainstream bullshit that is flooding so many metal streams, but “Punished by Nemesis” revitalizes through its sheer will to destroy.
Prequel to Madness
Traveler
Extreme Metal fans may find “Prequel to Madness” a little too clean and predictable for their tastes, but lovers of classic rock and traditional Heavy Metal will thrill at this latest album from TRAVELER.
The Way Forward
Black Tusk
Their brand of Sludge-mashed Punk is commanding, energetic, and compelling. You can’t not want to break things while listening to the album.
Call It What You Want
Night Laser
Night Laser the sleaze rockers from Hamburg Germany already have three albums under their belt […]
Auf Zerfetzten Schwingen
Autumnblaze
I really enjoyed the album. As I mentioned before, it’s all about that precarious balance that on one side keeps the listener from being overly excited, and on the other side, keeps them from falling into the abyss. It’s a skill that the band plays with quite well.
La France des Maudits
Seth
The melodies on the album are quite enchanting. There is a stiff and thick structure of Black Metal that is augmented with a story that seems to come to life as you listen to the album. It pulls you in, throws you into the heart of the conflict, and leaves your body bruised and broken by the end.
Mand Af En Tid
Mike Tramp
Mike Tramp of course the frontman of White Lion, one of the best Hair Metal […]
Abhorrent Invocations
Serement
All in all, SEREMENT is another amazing Greek band and “Abhorrent Invocations” is another top notch Greek album. This is a quality release that raises the bar for the genre as we approach the second half of the year.
Of Everlasting Cravings
Sun Descends Alone
This was indeed a charming album. Trébol has a melodic sensibility to his compositions that make the music catchy, and memorable, and the listener long for better days.
Et in Arcadia Ego
Lares
Even if tripped out doom/sludge and long songs aren’t your thing, give this one a chance. It’s so weird, nearly to the point of being alien, that even if you don’t like it or it isn't normally isn’t your style, I think it will still be an engrossing experience that will pull you until the very last second.
Edifice
Heresiarch
HERESIARCH’s “Edifice” has impressed the hell out of me and I wonder where this band has been all my life. Any fan of music that is constantly against the grain and pushing itself to the next level needs to check this out.
Incipient Chaos
Incipient Chaos
This was a good album, but could have been better with a little more diversity from song to song. I especially love the prominent role of the bass player, and the thickness of the sound.
Scenes From the Afterlife
Mutilated By Zombies
A fine Death Metal release is what this North American trio offers to you.
Stoned Again
Max Boogie Overdrive
A very good album from this Hard Rock/Boogie Metal/Stoner Metal or any other Metal thing you can think opf. Just listen to it, and listen it LOUD!
Remember to Die
Maesün
This release is a fine first coming from this international Symphonic Power Metal act.
Mass Extinction
Keep The Promise
Hardcore isn't dead, it's evolving and this Italian quintet is here to proove it, even beating our ears down!
The Cryptic Homicides
Infection
And from Peru comes this storm of pure Old School Death Metal!
Desolation Temple
Desolation Temple
This Brazilian band rescues the old ways of Atmospheric Black Metal from the 90s, but with an actual outfit.
Temples Colliding in Fire
Inconcessus Lux Lucis
I like the combination of filthy Black Metal with the Speed and Thrash Metal of the past. Although they aren’t creating anything new necessarily, the sound is authentic, and it blasts right through your ears with fire and passion. These riffs will stick around your head for a while as well.
Gateways of Eternity
Dolmen Gate
....isn’t a bad album but it’s missing something to really propel to higher highs. I’m confident the band will nail down their formula so I will be watching for their sophomore album.
Darkest Times
Beyond The Hate
Ultimately, while I don’t think “Darkest Time's” is terrible, it just isn’t exciting to me and didn’t keep my interest. It’s a solid melodic death metal album but nothing more. I definitely hear the band’s potential so I will keep them on my radar and see how they expand upon their vision.
Can It Get Any Worse?
Red Temple Pray
“Can It Get Any Worse?” is a good coffee house album—a middle-of-the-road, vanilla collection of 11 short tracks mostly about love and modern-day malaise.
Chytridiomycosis Relinquished
Slimelord
“Chytridiomycosis Relinquished” is as hard to pronounce as it is to understand, but it is worth checking out. Great to hear something so innovative in a world that has gone so mundane.
Life, But In Reverse
Suicide Season
All in all, “Life But In Reverse” is a strong debut album from a band that seems to have a bright future with their broken, dismal sound. I’ll be happy and miserable to watch them grow from here.
Till Aska
Walk Through Fire
It isn’t an album where you are going to find these standout moments that will call for the rewind button to play over and over. It’s better than that, the depth and layered substance is something that works best from start to finish, or at least a song or two at once. This isn’t an album about picking and choosing what works best: everything comes together for an incredible experience.
Alien Manifesto
Thanatotherion
The complexity of the album is deep, and some listeners might have a hard time with that. However, I found its secrets to be well-hidden, and appreciate the work that I had to do in order to unearth them. Like many I, Voidhanger releases, this is off the beaten path.
Radio Hauntings
Nature of the Beast
NATURE OF THE BEAST is a band from California, USA and "Radio Hauntings" is their […]
Regenerate
Okular
This was a solid album. The guitar work in particular was strong and kept the album moving forward, and the sprinkling in of clean guitars and vocals brought some diversity to the table. For me, the overall message was one of fortitude.
Empryean
J D Miller
This is the fourth studio album from J D Miller. With guitar player Tommy […]
The Beginning of the End
Sullvation
My hometown of Chicago is known for many amazing worldly contributions including pizza, Italian beef, diverse culture, world class architectural and yes, our sports teams, and also has a huge history of influential music with blues, opera, jazz and rock, so with their debut release “The Beginning of the End” one of our very own SULLUVATION will try and continue that tradition.
Neptunian
Svoid
I found this wonderfully depressing album to be bold, and full of character and surprises. It’s a mash of a few different styles, and would appeal to anyone who likes their music a bit off the beaten path.
Requiem for Eirênê
Isenordal
This album was quite moving, and I found it to be cohesive, even though many of the elements were competing with one another. I also found it shrouded in mystery, and deeper meanings with each new listen. This is one that the listeners will remember, as it etched into their very memories.
