Johnny Kelly - (EYE AM)
June 6, 2023
Johnny Kelly
may be the hardest working drummer in music today. He is currently touring with metal icons
QUIET RIOT
since taking over for the late
Frankie Banali
in 2020, he still tours with
DANZIG, KILL DEVIL HILL
and
SILVERTOMB. Johnny
was a member of the band that put goth/metal on the musical map
TYPE O NEGATIVE
and is currently involved with a new project and band
EYE AM. METAL TEMPLE
writer
Fred Bonanno
was honored to be able to spend some time with
Johnny
and ask a few questions about his impressive career.

interview
Rory Conder - (Lunar Mantra)
May 23, 2023
LUNAR MANTRA
are a black metal trio coming from the city of Glasgow in Scotland and they have been active now since 2013. In 2015, they released their first EP named
GENESIS
which was certainly an album full of diversity with instrumentation, experimental processes and produced very well as there is an ambient feel to this EP. They also released a single called
DROLMẨ
in 2017, but they came back with another EP called
PSYCHOSOMATIKA
released through the record label
INVICTUS PRODUCTIONS
(based in Dublin, Ireland). The album was scheduled to be released in 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic that had swept through the world by storm, the band had to delay this until 2021. Since their last release of course, I have now had the chance to talk to
Rory Conder
, who is their guitarist and very much a big part of the band's direction and I am asking him how the band got through Covid-19, whether they have any new music on the way, what inspired the band to create their music and where they are now in terms of their music as to the next step for
LUNAR MANTRA
.

Oscar Rilo - (Dark Embrace)
May 22, 2023
There have been countless of labels for bands' music, and it has been spreading so fast due to the larger number of releases coming out on a daily basis. For the Italian Dark Embrace, it was a simple choice, just to name an album with a title that is straightforward enough, "Dark Heavy Metal".Steinmetal had a good talk with the band's Oscar Rilo about the band's latest achievement and more…
interview
Markus Fortunato - (Fortunato)
May 19, 2023
FORTUNATO
are a band bringing three very talented musicians from Lyon in France, they are defined as a neoclassical heavy metal band. As they incorporate melodic rock and keyboard making them a very exciting band to watch out for. Up until 2021, they have released two albums,
LIBERTY
in 2012 and
RESTLESS FIRE
in 2015. They brought us a third album fresh off the press called
INSURGENCY
which I had the pleasure of reviewing as it certainly left me with a great impression of what this band is all about. I am of course surprised that this album was out two years ago as the band have managed to surpass the long period of Covid-19, the band are led by bassist
MARKUS FORTUNATO
followed by guitarist
SEBASTIEN VALLEE
as both musicians are still apart of the band.
So it is with great pleasure now that two years since their previous album, they are back of course with a brand new album titled
FROM HIGH ABOVE
in the midst of 2023, as we approach summer now. As the lineup is led with
MARKUS
and
SEBASTIEN
as before, they are now joined by drummer
SLY CONTE
, second guitarist
ALEX FACCINETTO
and keyboard player
STÉPHANE SOULIER
. I can now say that I got the opportunity to chat with
MARKUS
as to how the band got together, about their previous albums and what there is to look forward to now in their new album which is out now this month.

Max Molodtsov - (Sorrowful Land)
May 12, 2023
Every cross carried, every burden felt upon is a part of life that either being carried or gradually let go in time. The Ukranian artist, Max Molodtsov, back in the day, created Sorrowful Land, and made it to be its own baby that reflects that inner darkest and doomier feelings. Recently releasing "Faded Anchors of the Past", there is a lot of heavy weight to be unleashed from one's mind and shoulders.
