John Lutzow - (Leviathan)
April 23, 2014
The US Progressive Metal band
LEVIATHAN
has been there for quite a long time, since the late 80's, however, it has yet to break out with something that would shake the world in comparison to other bands in its field of Metal music. On the other hand,
"Beholden to Nothing, Braver Since Then"
might be that crucial break they need so much.
YngwieViking
talked with one of the band's veterans,
John Lutzow
, about the band, the new release and more…

Mother Crone - Inner Keep
February 4, 2026
There is no way in Heaven or Hell that I can’t NOT like what MOTHER CRONE is offering me on “Inner Keep”, as the songs are all of a very high standard, have all the right ingredients to sound amazing. Proper introductions, solid foundations, hard edged bodies and fitting endings.

Struck A Nerve – Struck A Nerve
November 11, 2025
“Struck A Nerve” is finest traditional Thrash Metal without compromise. The guitar riffing is flesh-ripping, the basslines are crushing, and the vocals are very aggressive

Proscription – Desolate Devine
September 9, 2025
A behemoth of woe? Indeed. The riffs lumber forward like an unstoppable giant, each note dragging with it the heaviness of a world undone. The atmosphere is colossal, suffocating in its scale, and the vocals echo with the cries of something ancient and eternal, less a performance than an invocation of loss itself. For me, it’s a reminder that behind the monster of despair lurks the very real weight of lived pain.

Hexella - The Ancient Gaping Mouth
July 24, 2025
Black Metal + D-beat elements = Black 'n' Roll, and this quartet balances this equation in a great way.

Veilburner - The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom
October 7, 2024
“The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom,” is as fresh and unique as it is alien and wild. The twisted compositions only get better as the album is played more and more. This is a trip down a rabbit hole that I'll happily get lost in.

Kozoria – The Source
September 27, 2024
What is it about Progressive Metal bands from France that are so exciting? The country is perhaps best known for the finer things in life, including its exquisite cuisine, fine wines, fashion houses, and picturesque country sides. Any Metalhead worth their weight in salt also knows their propensity for outstanding Metal bands, and “The Source” from KOZORIA is a very promising effort from a band looking to get a chunk of that notoriety.
review
ClearxCut – Age of Grief
May 24, 2024
What I like about the album is the band’s political stance and their principles. But supergroups, or projects consisting of well=known band members, often do not get off the ground in my experience. It isn’t a total loss, but it just sound tired and uninspired to me.
review
Luciferian Rites – Oath of Midnight Ashes
March 21, 2024
Overall, besides being an album that just travels forward at the speed of light without relenting anything along the way, it was too one-dimensional and repetitive for me. It’s a shame too, because the band has talent, but it is buried.
review
Gost – Prophecy
February 28, 2024
On the album, the melody creeps through the darkness, each note tinged with a sinister edge. The storm outside mirrored the turmoil within, as the keyboard danced under the musician's fingers. The music told a story of shadows and secrets, drawing the listener into its dark and stormy depths. If this is Satan coming back to move us forward, I say welcome him with a smile.

Peine Kapital – Peine Kapital
December 25, 2023
Although all four songs are similar in length, scope, and sound, their effect on the listener can’t be underscored. The heavy, sludgy sound is so thick and deep, it builds at your feet to the point where there is no escape. It is desolation personified.

Erich Eysn - (Wardress)
June 6, 2023
Carving even the smallest of legacies is no less of a personal matter, and when it is revamp it starts on a small scale only to become much more later on. Wardress, another member of the old guard of Heavy Metal, has been making their way in the modern age of Metal after so many years. Without caring about what is happening all around them musically, they charge with an old school prowess. Recently releasing "Metal 'Til The End", a new era has begun. Steinmetal had a good talk with the band's Erich Eysn.
