Woslom - Paranoia album cover

Thrash Metal can have many ways of being played by bands. But there are some that can play with an Old School outfit, respecting the features of the genre from the past, but can create something really amazing, new and fresh for our ears. And the Brazilian quartet WOSLOM, from São Paulo, is one of them. Their latest EP, "Paranoia" (that will be released on May 20th) is really a fine piece of Classic Thrash Metal.

It's Classic Thrash Metal because it will remind the listener from bands from the 80's as MEGADETH and ANTHRAX, but with a total modern outfit. And for this EP, we can fill and uncompromised format, the pulses of crude Rock 'n' Roll on the band's melodies. Yes, they are not as technical as in the past, but their melodies are even better, in an amazing work from the quartet. Yes, it's truly charming, and the songs show excellent choruses as well. The production was done in a way that "Paranoia" sounds alive and full of energy, guarantying the fun in every song of music. It's clean and heavy, but with a crude and really spontaneous outfit that fits on what they musically created. Yes, it's an excellent insight for their musical work.

All the four tracks are excellent. "Paranoia" has a more aggressive insight, being fast and shows excellent guitar riffs. "Game Over" recovers some of their earlier musical influences (mainly MEGADETH), but not as technical as in the past, and filled with a "motorheadian" way that sounds wonderful (and what a great work from bass guitar and drums). On "Suffering Myself" has some crude and filthy elements from Rock 'n Roll pulsing on the melodies, but the guitars are amazing (even some duets in NWOBHM are presented). And closing the EP, a Thrash Metal version for AC/DC's "High Voltage" that earned some new elements (as double bass parts on drums) that could make Bon Scott and Malcolm Young smile with satisfaction on the other side.

Yes, "Paranoia" is another great work from the Thrash Freaks from WOSLOM, so wait a bit more and be prepared to have extreme pain in the neck when it's out!
