Since the second half of the 90s, Industrial Metal appeared, and nothing was the same since then.

This idea is clear due to the great evolution of technological devices that Metal bands uses since then. Even your favorite traditional Heavy Metal band, or some from Extreme Metal styles, uses devices coming from this evolution. That's because Industrial showed the use of electronic effects and devices to create some aggressive tunes, that now many styles are using.

And here, we have "Erdwärts", the EP from German quintet MEGAHERZ.

To be straight: they are a band in the same vein of OOMPH! and RAMMSTEIN. Their music can sound hypnotic and tender, or more aggressive and grandiose. But even with this comparison, their work has a strong personality. So, be prepared for some chaos and melodic songs.

In terms of production, it was done in an excellent level. The sound quality was done in a way that all instruments are sounding clear and loud as they must be, but the weight necessary for the work is present as well.

They are showing six very good songs on "Erdwärts", with all the elements of their musical work balanced in an excellent way.

On "Wer Hat Angst Vorm Schwarzen Mann", you have that dirty, heavy and impacting sound that Industrial bands show on their best moments, with fine sound effects and vocals; some abrasive guitar tunes are excellent on "Ist Das Verrückt?", even being a more climatic song and with a more keyboard orientation, and the same elements can be found on "Glorreiche Zeiten" along with some Goth Rock influences. On "Einsam", we have the traditional accessible song, the one made for radios and to reach a broader public, but it's excellent, with an introspective feeling and fine female vocals in duets with "Lex". Hypnotic, tender and melodic is "Teufel", with fine keyboards and very good bass guitar and drums work. And "Jordan" is truly a mix between introspective moments with melodic and grandiose ones, in a Goth Rock orientation, but with fine abrasive and heavy riffs and some fine aggressive vocals and some participation of female clean ones.

MEGAHERZ is a very good band, indeed. But just an EP is not enough; an album is the best, because after hearing "Erdwärts", you want to hear more and more of their work.<
