Since the end of the 90s, when Grunge and Alternative Rock invaded radio stations of the USA, the daily bill of the North American MTV, Hard Rock really passed by extremely difficult times and many trials. And to those ones who call themselves "the real ones", and always talk shit about the style, I'm sorry to say that your head is really full of shitty ideas, because Hard Rock was the main reason many of my dear nephews and nieces became Metalheads. I still can remember how many fans of W.A.S.P., BON JOVI, MOTLEY CRUE and DEF LEPPARD came to fill our ranks due the work of these bands and many more. We have to respect and thank Hard Rock, one of the elders of Metal music, for its great contribution.

And this all to make you open your minds and hearts to give a very good listening to the Italian quartet MAD HORNET and their very good work on their album "Would You Like Something Fresh?".

It's the purest Hard Rock you can get, being played in a loud and clear way. Of course it's not as nasty and rebel as MOTLEY CRUE used to be, because the band uses a more melodic and hooking form to play Hard Rock. Maybe a good reference for their work can be DEF LEPPARD on their earlier style. Their music has very good musical arrangements, fine and hooking chorus and melodies, and a good technical level. Ok, they can't be doing anything new at all, but it is done in a very personal and hooking way.

The production was done in a way that their music flows, I said above, in a loud and clear way, allowing us to understand what they are playing, and to absorb their musical work with no difficulties at all.

Eleven very good songs are what MAD HORNET offer. All of these songs are fine, but the hooking and grooving "Your Body Talks" (with fine choruses and very good vocals), the tender and accessible "Dyin' Love" (what enchanting chorus and fine guitar arrangements), the nasty and heavy Rock'n'Roll songs called "Free Rock Machine" (what solid rhythmic session!) and "Game of Death" (with its heavy and good guitars), the solid ball of nasty Hard Rock called "Rise 'n' Do It" (again, very hooking tempos, and good chorus, and it's their heaviest music), the total party Rock "Pink Pants School" (their most accessible song, with very good backing vocals and commercial guitar riffs), and the hooking Hard Rock version for an old Dance Music anthem, HADDAWAY's "What Is Love" (that gained very good and heavy guitars and chorus) are their best shots.
