Hollow Heart
I Cried Wolf
I really hate, and truly detest the so called style labels inside Metal and Hardcore scenes.
Is always the same tiring thing of "new this", "post that" and another ones that really makes no sense at all. Fuck them all, I don't really like this infinity of labels to music, and think that no one really does. In the golden ages of Metal, to do something different and new doesn't meant to create a new label (obviously some bands tried, but them all felt on the pit of bad ideas and disappeared).
Oh, do you want to be different?
Do something musically different, be a man (or woman), not a Dolly Metal clone. And the English quintet I CRIED WOLF really does something different, as their EP "Hollow Heart" is a clear proof.
It's Hardcore mix with Metal and some introspective influences, a mix between bands as BRING ME THE HORIZON, and some Metalcore touches. Besides one, at first hearing, could think of a thing that already was done, they have a strong and bold personality. And let me tell you: their sound is really hooking due some extremely good melodies. So, hear their music and be caught.
In terms of sound quality, we can't complain. It's loud, heavy and aggressive, but with a clear approach. Savage and understandable is what they present to us, so we can really get the best on their songs.
All their five songs are really good, having hooking moments.
Personally, the tracks I can point as their best moments are "Scratching My Head With Ink" (some Hardcore guitar riffs along with savage vocals in a very aggressive song), "Masokiss Me" (where some more deeper introspective moments arose from good guitar riffs and more tender and clean backing vocals), and the perfect mix between aggressive voices and melodic guitars on "Kensopia" (where bass guitars and drums are on their best technical moment on this EP).
A very honest work, and it's very good, so hear it and get hooked to this band!
