Visitation
Har
There are moments when I ask myself what happened with the creative power that existed in the past when we talk about Metal and Rock. I truly understand that there are times when the greater part of the bands of all Metal genres just follow a blueprint. These times are the sign that a new musical revolution is about to begin. Although the Israeli Black Metal band HAR will be a name that can help to renew Metal, as they show on this EP called "Visitation" that they can offer a helping hand to them with some new ideas.
They are, in reality, a Black Metal band that uses some ideas from modern Death Metal with some experimental touches here and there. They aren't a Black Metal band in the purest sense of this label, but this is their greatest value: to experiment new musical possibilities. They have an extremely harsh and raw approach, but different from those bands that are just remaking the genre, some punctual ideas are different. The sound production is focused on creating a crude form of music. But this is the right sonority for them, as it keeps their Black Metal roots untouched. Of course it could be better in the sense of being a bit cleaner for us all understand their arrangements in some parts. It's good, but they deserve a better sound quality next time.
The slow insight they used on "A Shadow Henosis" will remind some of you of names from earlier Death/Black Metal as SARCÓFAGO from "I.N.R.I." and "Rotting" days, but with some different guitars arrangements. Using some tempo changes between a fast approach and some slower parts, "From the Blood of a Whirling Dagg" is using the same traditional insight of the previous song, but again some of the musical arrangements are not conventional. The bitter "Conjure the Black Flame" follows the same tendency, but with deep roots on the earlier Black Metal essence.
They are good, but must evolve a bit more. I hope that their album (that is coming) will be mature.
