Division
Deathtura
Since the end of the 80's, when PANTERA released "Cowboys from Hell", the Thrash Metal scene faced a new reality: the Groove influences from Soul Music and Funk could be attached to aggressive guitars and rhythmic weight of bass guitar and drums. And the Texan pioneers work opened ways for many others since them. And even having their own way of making music, the quintet DEATHTURA has a lot to evolve and to offer, as can be noted on "Division". As the words above describe, the quintet fuses Thrash Metal with Groove Metal influences, something that was done countless time before this album was released. But the band bears a modern outfit on melodies that can remind Finnish Melodic Death Metal way in some moments. Of course this fact doesn't make the album the eighth wonder of Metal world, but it gives to the quintet a personality. Yes, even being something used by many names since the 90's, it sounds personal.
"Division" was recorded at Parma, at RealSound Studio. And the sound quality that was built for the album is really excellent, sound heavy, clean and aggressive in a balanced way. The instrumental tunes were chosen wisely, in a way that they have a Groove and Melodic impact, but being understandable to the listener. On the album, the band shows 11 very good songs that deserve to be heard carefully. But the excellent melodies of "Purgatory of Our Future" (it presents very good charming guitars), the modern and abrasive approach of "Help Me Confide", the evident bitter touch of Modern Metal influences of "Escape the Time", the introspective and charming harmonies of "Killing Your Threats" (where the clean vocals show how the band uses different insights on its work), the oppressive tempos of "Confess for Them", and the mix of tender melodies and silk aggressiveness of "In Sight" are their finest shots.
Of course, DEATHTURA is a new band with a long way to go, but "Division" points to a promising name that, as long as they keep evolving, can be great some day. It's a matter of waiting to see what will come.
