The Pilgrim - Walking into the Forest album cover

Some musical works that are being released today seem to be saying to the listener like "we miss the past, we are a band from the past", or something like that. There are bands that really play something good (even sounding moldy), but there are moments when the album in question is an only-one-ticket album, that one that you'll hear only once and will forget it. And "Walking Into the Forest", from Italian duo THE PILGRIM, is one of them.

Somewhere you will find definitions for their music as Space Folk, Acid Psych, and others. Only a bunch of words to try to say that they're a type of acoustic band playing a moldy form of Folk Rock from the 60's, in a time when names as Simon & Garfunkel and Bob Dylan explored such form of music in a way that exhausted the fans. Ok, if you're in such a trend you'll write passionate apologies, but it's truly boring and lack of that essential feature that makes an album gains life and a meaning: identity.

To such kind of music, a clean sound quality is demanded, and "Walking into the Forest" shows it. Yes, you can understand such acoustic approach clearly, and the instrumental tunes for guitars are really good. In this aspect, there are no deeper complaints. But when the songs start to play, the fans will get bored and will snore out loud. If, and only if, you're a fan of such form of music, "Peace of Mind", "Sailor", "Dragonfly", the short "Sunset in the Desert", "Pendulum" and "When I Call Your Name" can have present you something that earns the effort. But for a Rock/Metal fan, it can represent that kind of music that you can't hear when driving at night, because you'll sleep for sure. It's a form of music that would sound great for hippies, but they are extinct, at least, for 30-40 years. But if you have problems with chronic insomnia, "Walking into the Forest" will put you to sleep within 10 minutes!

A boring experience is what THE PILGRIM gives to the listener...
