Hoaxed – Death Knocks
March 30, 2026
“Death Knocks” is a beautiful, delicate flower in the full bloom of early spring, defying the cold air and nearly frozen ground, and you don’t have to dig for the melancholy, catchy music. It feels like a journey to me, where you leave the present behind and visit…the past, or the future? In the past, you are reminded that you can’t change things. In the future, you might glimpse at where your choices will lead. Either way, it’s a sobering experience that gets under your skin and takes up residence, making sure you never forget it.

Wolfshead – II - Ravings From the Gutter
March 29, 2026
I just can’t find fault what the band is bringing on “II - Ravings From the Gutter”. It might not all be perfect, but it all sounds sincere, exudes the right kind of attitude. There isn’t a dull moment to be heard, so your ears will sharpen their hearing quite a few times, and your brains will try to accept and extort the information at its worth.

Helheim – Blod & Ild
June 2, 2025
"Blod & Ild" got a lot of attention when it first came out, and deservedly so. Whether you somehow get hold of the vinyl before it’s gone or you just download the digital like the rest of mortals, it’s still a hell of an album.

review
Ossuary – Abhorrent Worship
April 12, 2025
Although the album presented evil in material form, too many of the songs sounded nearly alike, and that is my chief complaint.
review
Nachash – Eschaton Magicks
February 16, 2025
"Eschaton Magicks" is as stately and dark as its cover—Death riding atop a skeleton horse flanked by skeleton, winged warriors, a suit of broken and empty armor at the horse’s hooves. Victory and death all on one image. A must have for extreme metalheads.

Heraldic Blaze – Blazoned Heraldry
June 12, 2024
I must admit, the album got better as it moved along, but is still sounds fairly bland when compared to other Black Metal albums out there, and really did not stand out much from peers.

review
Saevus Finis - Facilis Descensus Averno
January 11, 2024
It isn’t just the songwriting, however, that makes this beastial vessel such a tortured experience. The production/mix/mastering is exactly on point as to what this band needs to present such a hellish, nervous, and harrowing atmosphere. The music sounds rushed without actually being rushed…..like it is constantly on the edge of something even more unsettling.
