Reforged

Power Metal is the idea of Mixing melody, technicality and the raw energy, and one of the best examples is HELLOWEEN with their "Keeper of the Seven Keys" era. This style is prevalent throughout the world, they can't all be HELLOWEEN, but there are some doing astonishing works. And in the middle of it all, there is ZEPHANIAH, coming from United States, and releasing their second album, "Reforged".
The album is really melodic and done with all the aspects of the style that fans love: intricate technique (though some tracks stray from this), vocals with highly varying range, it's all is presented here! The classic technical and melodic style is great, but their abrasive and aggressive insight of their music in some moments is really astonishing. They are not as creative as giants from the style, and aren't creating a new way into this style as well, but their music is really good and has personality. In terms of production, they reached a good level on the album's sound quality. It's not perfect, but it has a good balance between the clearness that melodic Power Metal demands and keeping a good amount of weight and aggressiveness.
The band really shines on "Reforged". Their best moments can be heard on the extremely technical and heavy title track, "Reforged", which also showcases some aggressive moments and good work on the rhythm section. In the elegant and thunderous "Destiny" the vocals are very good, but on some extremely high notes, things become a little strange, but they're easy to get used to. The album showcases the band's awesome guitar talent on the aggressive "Road Warrior". The track also features some great riffs and solos in the middle of technical rhythmic changes. The song "Thunderdome" is very much in the vein of classic U.S. Metal. Even being a Power Metal band, they use some elements from North American Heavy Metal school, especially when we speak about the rhythm and guitars. On Japanese version of the album, there are two goodies: a new version of "Judgement" and an acoustic version of "Battle Hymn of the Victorious". These special features definitely make this album worth buying. I can't see the future, but they have talent, and with some adjustments, especially in the extremely high tuned screams, ZEPHANIAH will be a great name, listen and be enchanted.
