Poison Eyes
X-Piral

X-Piral are a Greek Power Metal band. Their sound is more on the Rock based side but has not abandoned the mystic, epic side of their genre. The music is fairly traditional and although promising has not yet ventured far from its metallic nest. Now to what sets X-Piral apart, Michael Apostolakis' unique voice.
Though the production could be clearer, the music is fairly simple here and has a good level of aggression. Their guitar-work is decent, the lead work showing the most emotion. It has a good level of roughness and flows catchily along. My favorite part of their music is Dimitris Marinis' keyboards. His work isn't in the forefront that much but always adds something to the music. The singer has a good range but spends most of his time in the deep end. His voice has an unusual quality to it that attracts me. It can be difficult to understand him because of his accent and, unfortunately, they did not include the lyrics on their sleeve.
Winter Skies is my favorite song off of Poison Eyes, for its keyboards, followed by the soaring catchiness of Steel Tears and the moody ballad Far Horizons.
Poison Eyes is a promising beginning, if they can improve on this with the next recording then they may be an interesting band to watch.
