Force The Pace
Withering Surface
In the corner of Europe called Scandinavia, the gods blessed the lands with snow, pretty girls and metal. Not the kind of metal you need to forge a fence from, but the kind that forces your head to execute violent movements till your neck snaps or your ears bleed.
Withering Surface are from Denmark and this is their latest -and best- release. Pure melodic death metal; the production is great and this is an excellent start with their new record label Scarlet.
Force The Pace shows its teeth from the beginning; killing riffs and top notch grunts, make this album an excellent addition to the collection of every fan of In Flames, Soilwork or Dark Tranquility.
Technically it is perfect and songs like "Gears and Hold The Line will haunt your mind for a very long time.
While it is not the album that will shape the future of melodic death metal, you can find many personal elements of "Withering Surface appearing now and then, with skillful playing oozing from death and thrash influences from the greatest bands of the genre. With that said, can't wait to see them live (and so should you).
There will be two bonus songs in the Japanese release. What is the matter with bonus material and Japan? Just wondering...
