We Came As Romans - Tracing Back Roots album cover

Metalcore and Post-Hardcore fans now need to rejoice and celebrate, for one of the legendries WE CAME AS ROMANS are back with a 3rd full length album and I assure you, it destroys everything you've heard so far by them and will revive that early euphoric passion we've had for the genre. That, is guaranteed.

The release opens up with the band's pre-released self-titled track, and slashes you with intense riffs, melodies, heavy breakdowns, and David Stephens' clearly improved unclean vocals. The song ends with beautiful cleanly sung vocals by Kyle Pavone. The following track "Fade Away", is a more pop-ish version of "Tracing Back Roots", featuring the catchiest chorus on the whole LP, and brings with it a very strong replay value for any fans of melodic Hardcore and possibly easycore.

"I Survive", the album's most emotional and calm track, featuring Aaron Gillespie, UNDEROATH's previous clean vocalist, is probably my favorite from the album; although, it lacks the Metalcore elements WE CAME AS ROMANS usually present, but it's an amazing amalgamation of what the band is able to present, all in one single song. "Hope" brings along some beautiful string instruments, "Present, Future, and Past" features amazing acoustics and the best melodic lick I've heard in ages. Fuck it, need I say more? Everything is outstanding so far and it continues to be with every following track on this release.

WE CAME AS ROMANS show tons of maturity, and "Tracing Back Roots" is truly a release worthy of belonging to the legendary label Nuclear Blast Records. These fellows deserve a 10, and I've only given it once before. Grab this release as soon as you can, or you'll be missing out on a lot!
