The Rise of Norn

According to the information I have gathered, which is sparse at best, this band was founded by the lead guitarist Stanley Robertson in 2016. This is their debut release, it follow the journey of an ancient warrior (the aforementioned Norn) in a desolate world trying to survive through loneliness, despair and courage. The warrior displays the fragility of the human being throughout his trials and tribulations. This album is very story-driven, which is always something I highly enjoy. It may not be long, clocking at around 34 minutes but it's highly enjoyable. I enjoyed the fact that you have this instrumental track that begins the opus itself. It sets the tone, the mood of the entire album in only 2 minutes. You can feel it in your bones pretty much and you know you are in for a treat.
Each song is a progression in the story of our valiant warrior. From his utter beginnings, to being in the depths of sorrow and loneliness while overcoming his fears and weaknesses. He sees this prophecy but he doesn't know if it's the truth nonetheless. You can feel his distress but when you listen carefully to his lyrics, the main character has a hardened path to fulfill his destiny. He shows great courage under fire and his last battle is pretty epic. The last song is his battle cry, his is dying and this is all the thoughts that go through his head after all he has been through in his epic journey. Its part sense of relief, part regrets and part glory. The last song is the best song of this digital release and leaves you wanting more of the new band out of Germany. You are saying to yourself ''C'mon guys, I wanted to more of the Epic music!!!''. I really can't wait for a full-length album in the upcoming future.
The music goes with it. Great riffs, emotional rough vocals and some pretty righteous keyboard work. I don't know who did the keyboards on this album but they did a great job. Good production, though the programming of drums is a pet peeve of mine but it wasn't too bad this time out.
Great job from a great up and coming band.
