Uli Jon Roth - The Best Of album cover

ULI JON ROTH has a distinctive reputation and personality and it's no secret to admit that he's a living legend and his work has influenced and affected the style and playing of many modern rock guitarists as well as the shape of certain aspects of rock music in general. There are really a few people in the world who are not familiar with the fact that ULI was an ex-SCORPIONS guitarist and JIMI HENDRIX admirer has creaeted a whole school of followers and admirers throughout the globe. Maybe you can ask Mr. MARTY FRIEDMAN or Mr. MAMLSTEEN about that!
This collection actually covers a wide aspect of ULI's carrier after his departure from SCORPIONS after the Tokyo Tapes album. I don't think that Mr. ROTH would agree with the title Best of but this album does really serve as one. His career is really long and full of magical moments. It is obvious that his innovative and renaissance style follow him throughout his musical journey of his life. ULI has managed to create a unique style of own that travels the listener frok medieval times to up to date rock style and musicianship.
All of the songs chosen for this The Best Of have been approved by ULI himself and represent some of his best material released up to date.  Each CD presents a different aspect of ROTH. In CD I he shows his more sophisticated, mostly influenced by classical music, while in CD II he mostly demonstrates his rock side as well as his improvisation side. You can also find a bonus video of Cry Of The Night, filmed in London in January 1985, in CD I.
This is really a masterpiece album from a true living genius of his kind. The melodies are overflowing with passion and melancholy and create a wall that surrounds the listener with warmth. Of course one of the finest moments in this CD is ULI's cover on one of his most influential artists the almighty Mr. JIMI HENDRIX, who's songs are performed almost majestically Little Wing and Voodoo Chile.
The CD comes along with a very nice and well informed booklet that lets you know everything about ULI's carrer and musical history. There is really no need to distinguish the best songs here, although the highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones: The tempest, Pegasus, Thunder cadenza , Air de Bach, Venga La Vita, Winter days, Voodoo chile, Little wing, Sky overture and  Rondo alla turca. Needless to say that this album gets really easily a ...
