Why is this band unsigned?

Having sprouted as a fetus in 2015 in Vancouver, B.C. TRUENT self-released their 2nd offering "To End an Ancient Way of Life". An E.P. that holds the merit of a name tag at a singles party. Awkward as it's strange and new and you may be uncertain how to approach it. But once you do, the floodgates are wide open with welcome. Released on September 14th, 2018, TRUENT emerge with as much energy as SKINLAB when they released "Disembody". Technical groove metal is what we have here kids.

Delighted are my senses as they crank out some innovative rhythmic patterns and techniques. Saying they sound like LAMB OF GOD is, well, these days kinda boring. TRUENT has a hint of influence from them while adding their own de-tuned scale runs and unexpected accentual fills. The title track has an interesting little insert around the two-minute mark. Reminded me of the quirky breaks done by 12 FOOT NINJA. Very spontaneous. And like a surprise birthday party that you wish you were better dressed for, TRUENT offers the surprise, the only difference is, this is enjoyable. The blasting of the snare that follows hits hard like a punch rather than a tap tap tap high pitched pop which of course makes the sound thicker and pushes with more force.

The bass guitar is actually audible throughout. High five to the engineer behind the board. The vocals, again, very SKINLAB sounding. Audible yells, growls, and screams. Mostly in a mid-range but his low growls are low, and he out screams the hardcore kids with a "let me show ya how its done" confidence. "Burdens" is the perfect demonstration of flexing the vocal diversity muscle. "Another Day in the Dirt" brings in some nice rhythm ended with  high shrieks and flashy scale runs. Impressive as the drums keep in time with every note. a perfect unity of fast action movement. I am also hearing a little SLAYER influence in the riff progression. The groove rhythms are like starched pants, stiff and uniform as they literally walk.

I have nothing but praises for "To End an Ancient Way of Life". It's rare that such a new band brings innovative contributions to the table. TRUENT is solid. A reinforced brick wall of strong musicianship and just thick and heavy punch you in the balls sound. Audio quality is great on the PC and in the car. Again, you can hear the bass guitar. The drums are pounding and tight, the guitars are low and clear. These guys are where it's at. My only complaint, all the shows seem to be in Canada. Other than that, TRUENT is a refreshing blend of technical groove and thick heaviness that makes ya just want to eat face.
