Swedish Metal background has been known with its Death Metal bands like DARK TRANQUILITY, AMON AMARTH among the many. With those acts, which have made a name for themselves, lead the underground Death scene much powerful as the famous soups, so let me introduce you from that subterranean terrene the band TRIBULATION that has recently released their second full-length "Formulas Of Death". They put all their potential and talent on this album so it can remarkable, different and melodious from the previous releases.
The Formulas of Death isn't just an album full of face-shredding Death Metal; it's also an incredibly varied and adventurous release. Yes, it's crushing, but there's much more going on than just brutality. Though it has some Black Metal influences comes out in the dark chord changes, occult atmospherics, and aggressive tremolo picked riffs "Wandere In The Outer Darkness" is the perfect sample along with neoclassical and psychedelic aspect of the forth track. "Suspiria" features a groovy bass line and a truly expansive vibe that is far beyond traditional Death Metal fare, "Through the Velvet Black" is one of the album's best songs, it keeps up an ever-shifting intensity throughout, and demonstrates the album's peculiar compositional mode and then comes the halfway point of "Randa" that introduces a lead and duet section that sounds vaguely like an organ, but it could just as easily be another heavily-effected guitar. "When The Sky Is Black With Devils" is a song that nails their abilities here clearly, as it balances the violent and the dreamlike perfectly. "Apparitions" the closing track, is a thirteen minute nearly psychedelic journey through the mysticism of the occult that predominate the album with the tremolo riffing gradually undergirded by tinkling piano and gently lilting strings.
Clocking in at almost seventy-six minutes over eleven tracks, "The Formulas of Death" is a grand and monstrous affair, it is equal parts ripping and psychedelic, and that's a wise place for a Death Metal album to be.
