Trallery - Catalepsy album cover

From Spain, I have received a band that captured my attention. This is a trio from the Balearic Islands, more precisely from the city of Palma de Mallorca. A band that has been playing an energetic and elaborate classic Thrash Metal, strongly influenced by the sound of the old METALLICA, OVERKILL, old MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, HEATHEN and the essence of the San Francisco Bay Area scene, plus some elements of European Thrash Metal in the vein of KREATOR.

The album opens with "Collateral Damage", which begins with an acoustic intro leading to a catchy riffage endowed with melody. No doubt that this is a powerful song in the vein of METALLICA from "... And Justice For All" period, with echoes of the sound of American Power / Thrash scenery. The fastest parts remind of OVERKILL, in a piece where shine the beautiful harmonies and guitar solos by Biel Gayà that remind us a little of MEGADETH's "Rust in Peace" golden era. Then follows "Pluralized Chaos", a short-time Speed / Thrash piece, enriched by the addition of shrill-pitched voices, and "White Shadow" containing catchy riffs from the Bay Area's school, combining acute yells with rotten voices, noticing the influence of the current sound of KREATOR. An absolutely enjoyable start to a great album.

"Catalepsy", the title track of the album, begins with a brief acoustic intro that immediately leads to a pounding riff full of melody. A song with interesting marshes and changes of rhythm, where the drummer Sebas Barceló shines, which is based on the classic trinity METALLICA / MEGADETH / OVERKILL. Then follows the instrumental "Assassin Introspection" (Beginning with the sound of a music box) and "Disease", a piece with various technical shades, more intricate than the rest of the material.

The influence of the group by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield overflies all the time on "Catalepsy", so no surprise when we discovered that TRALLERY began his career as a METALLICA tribute band, which played under the name of WHITE SHADOW. "Dissipated By Oblivion" starts with an intro that remembers the atmosphere of "Master Of Puppets"; this is another mid-tempo theme, with some of the classic sound of TESTAMENT.

"In The Wings Of The Night" is one of the highest points of this full-length: catchy, melodic, with Heavy Metal vibe, has a chorus with memorable backing vocals, and slow passages of very good musical taste. The end comes with the dynamic instrumental "The Secret Trial", and the extensive "Path of Life" (the longest track on the disc), a flying high song as the rest of the album, a very dignified closure.

Certainly, the prestigious label Xtreem Music was in the right path when it signed up this great Spanish band. TRALLERY has a promising career ahead, besides his debut with this exceptional "Catalepsy", they will be the Spanish representatives in the next edition of the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, after winning in their country the "Metal Battle Spain 2013". If you like good classic Thrash Metal, do not miss this album.
