From Philadelphia, USA, "Closer To Relevance" will be WORKHORSE's third full-length album at a length of about thirty-two minutes. "Soul Crusher" has the feel of being in a rush to make a get a-way. If my life was a movie this would be the perfect background music for doing some sort of comedic mission. The solo is the mountain peak of the mission; it rises up to that energy. The ending is a feeling of relief that the mission was completed. The track has very quick guitars, drumming, and just has a great vibe to it.
"Holy Roller" is a very Bluesy mixture of Rock and Roll and that's what I find sets this track a part from some of the other tracks on the album. Even the lyrics sound Bluesy. "What's the Point" has great drumming! The energy is all coming from those drums. It just feels like the main character in this track, they are on the spot light. Altogether, it is very Stoner-Punk, it just has an overall get wild and don't give a hoot feel to it. It's great!
"Want You" has an ultra super sexy acoustic beginning. Again, if my life was a movie, this would be something I'd play in the background if I was totally in lust over someone. The lyrics, the guitars, the singing, it all just screams lust! There is a hot little riff starting at 1:05 with good slides that come right after that basically ends the track. "Life of Crime" have lyrics that are about being enraged at a lover in which she sings "You never loved me..." and realizing leaving is the best way to get to "Where I belong...". It definitely has that pissed off vibe but there is also a bit of sassy-ness coming in when she sings the lyrics "I walk away."
I think "When I'm Gone" is my favourite track from the album. It's something I'd play in the car on my way to some new experience or even if I were traveling. It radiates with a heading to an adventure vibe.
I like how they have the capability to add different moods and different ways of playing and not completely sound the same throughout the whole album. They steer it this way and then steer it that way and don't just take it down one path. There are many flavours to this tasty album. I think if I were in the movie business this would be a cool album to use as background effects.
