THE OSEDAX are part of The East Coast music scene hailing from Leesburg, Virginia in the USA, which is superfluous to have a geographic location tagged on these lads. After I listened to "Meridians" I feel like I had summoned them with a dark incantation. So, let's get to it, shall we? Track #1 "Offen" opens these 47 minutes of "Meridian" in a field of sorrows' soundscape - these cats are all about throwing down the dirge dynamics and the sonic drama.  Imagine yourselves butts-planted in a movie theater about to watch a Francis Ford Coppola flick, one scored with some deep and overwhelming music revealed from dark and silence then leading in with the dynamique and operatic musical visions. This is THE OSEDAX Meridian.

We get about one-third of the way through the 15 minutes of track #2 "Beacon/Ox Eye" which allows drummer Kevin off the hook with a righteous double bass drum blast dissolving into guitar delay wailing and grungy doomed out bass. The band does us the same way in "White Horse / Tempest"  with Mike and Scott throwing down asphalt grinding vocals. White Horse / Tempest leads in with 6 string whale song then brakes into a caterwaul as the music's Glaurung jackhammers all report for serious synoptic rearranging duty thereafter droning to outro with a right smarty groove. "Ratlines" is the setting sun of "Meridians," bringing lyrical pause and reflection to what just went down, my brothers and sisters. The excellent sound production lets these lads be unafraid to let a groove work itself to the dark or light conclusions they arrive at. The whole of "Meridians" is a journey and makes you feel like you went somewhere musically that you could only imagine in a film or literary setting.

Mates, these lads are heavy ... as in OLD MAN GLOOM and NEUROSIS heavy. Heavy like if you can catch them live in the Washington DC area make sure to bring earplugs and park the car a right proper distance from the venue so when you leave after the show there is still paint adhering to the carriage. Not just deep bedlam's mental tour agency, the music also confides soothing and soaring siren feedback and string delay icing the sonic planes alá SIGUR RÓS... calming as a contemplation of winter's frozen Rocky mountains but with iceberg heavy sound design.
