Silver Dirt - Sonic Boom album cover

Oh come on, face it: can a band named Silver Dirt play unholy Grindcore? Tough luck! The name itself brings in mind the glorious days of Hair Metal (call me 80's). But Silver Dirt is more than that. Originally a Led Zeppelin cover act, these dirty fuckers formed back in 2004 and soon started working on some original material.
It was just a matter of time before enough songs were gathered for this album. Though I mentioned Hair Metal a few lines ago, it is quite obvious that the band has influences from the 60's, 70's and yeah 80's Era of Rock. Disassembling their music, one can pinpoint many distinct influences: AC/DC, Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Guns N' Roses are few of them. Nicely blending the glam and the sleaze of their influences (hell, even their names are equally divided), the band creates an album that could easily be mistaken for an 80's release.
The production could have been better. There's especially a certain side drum that works hard on my nerves but didn't manage to ruin my mood created by the album's positive vibes. Albums like this one appear rarely in my letterbox. It is cool that there are still bands out there playing such kind of music in such a passionate way. Fans of the genre, check them out.
