Shadows Fade
Shadows Fade

I admit I got tired. All this melodic Rock stuff, all these releases. There was a time in the mid-to-late 90s where any melodic Rock fan was begging for a release - even an average one - and now the overflow is so profound that you get a little dizzy only by thinking what you should check and what you should buy - or not. Well, I don't think that in this shambles of albums Shadows Fade should be registered with the top priority CDs.
Vocalist Kevin Chalfant (Storm, Two Fires) formed this project with the assistance of ex-Dokken guitarist and full session musician Alex De Rosso. But, I don't think the result can be judged as conscious and effective. Of course there are some strong melodies, surely the performance of these two talented musicians is in noble level... Still, there's no song that can stick to your mind as soon as the listening process is over. In addition, the production and mixing is a so pop resulting in a somehow light sound. I don't know what (or who) forced Kevin Chalfant to form this project but I can feel that this whole move was niggling. Better check his Two Fires first...
Maybe Frontiers has served the melodic Rock/AOR music all these years with tons of top-quality releases, still I think Shadows Fade should not be included here. This CD is definitely not bad, but in my ears it also isn't that good. After each one's financial analysis, you can choose your path.
