Seneca - Reflections album cover

Oh God, one more release by Lifeforce Records containing the words Hardcore, brutal and melody on the back. It isn't poor Lifeforce's fault, but this kind of music is not only out of my style, but something I cannot accept at all! Let's hope for something better this time...

The US (Charlotte, New Carolina) whatevercore band has been active since 2002. They debuted with their self titled album in 2006, released through Divisional Media Recordings, and as their bio says, they are a hard working band creating a name for themselves (honestly this is the first time I hear about them). Let's see if their sophomore release released through the German label is as good as the label claims it to be.

Not much different from what I expected, but not as bad as I had imagined. They are one of those whatevercore bands, but their vocalist seems to easily handle brutal vocals, as well as clean ones (though in a totally emo melodic way) and there are some nice riffs here and there that may attract your interest. I caught myself pillow drumming at some beatdown parts, so I guess this is a positive thing. Since I am not a fan of the specific music I cannot really say with which bands they sound similar, but I think that fans of modern Hardcore/Metalcore/Deathcore will like this album.

The fact is that most people (to be more precise most of them are young kids) that are into this kind of music already know these bands before I even get their latest album in my hands, so I guess I seem a bit insufficient with all the Myspace kids in this scene. Deal with it; I am the only one you've got here fellows!
