What I like about labels like Eonian Records is the fact that they are doing a big time service to Hard Rock / Glam Metal bands already long gone in the graveyard of "could have beens" and "should have beens" with the discharge of their unreleased material for all the world to see. Leaving aside the quality of the material, it is a hell of service and each and every band should appreciate it. RATTLESHAKE, one of the many old relics that existed and wrote crunchy, Bluesy, Metallic and Rockin' stuff, composed a few tracks back in 1989. Now, after the band has been long gone for years, the seven tracked album was formed under their name. If you longed for a little GUNS N' ROSES, MOTLEY CRUE, AC / DC and a dose of BRITNEY FOXX, ready your ass to be kicked hard, but not hard enough from my point of view.

Though it is hard for me to admit it, as a fan of the Hard Rock genre and Glam Metal, RATTLESHAKE didn't sound too special, they were mostly like the vast majority of the US bands from the Strip or the surrounding areas. Well, it didn't matter to me if they came from California or from freaking NYC, but as far as their music goes booming, it's the same lady with the same flashy colors, maybe a little bit soaring than usual. On the other hand, RATTLESHAKE dazzled with a few gems like "Jump On Me", as the ultimate Hard Rock / Metal experience of pure Glamish toughness, and believe me that there is such a thing, "Shootin' Whisky" that is a Rockin' drunken and Bluesy absolve with a rough attitude and a lot of sex appeal, an element that played part in many of those bands back then, some still today, "Gypsy Queen", though a bit repetitive with its main riff and constant mid tempo, is cracking with its crudeness and MOTLEY CRUE like "Shout AT The Devil" groovy inputs.

In general RATTLESHAKE didn't head on opening windows but just further exemplified a situation where the strong survived and weak were crushed and crumbled asunder. Their material proved that there was something good going, even if some of it was a reprise to the big players of the period, yet at least they had something that lead them forward. Sadly that they stopped from moving after a while. Long live the shake of the rattlesnake.
