The recent phenomena of the Old School praise for many young Metal/Rock fans had a side effect for those who wanted to play old genres without even being born in those days: the coming back from some giants of the past. One of them is the Scottish Hard Rock pioneers from NAZARETH that returned on 2008, and is releasing album and tours since them. The quartet is back to give to the young ones about Hard Rock from the 70's with "Tattooed On My Brain", their 24^th studio release.

The album presents Carl Sentence on the vocals instead of the veteran Dan McCafferty (that left the band for health reasons). Obviously, this fact caused some changes on the quartet music's identity, but the outfit is the same: that Classic Rock/Hard Rock from the 70's with influences of Blues Rock. Their DNA is the same, showed on catchy choruses, melodies that are easy to be understood and all those same features of the past, but with a modern outfit provided by the production.

And speaking about the sound quality, it was done in a way that their main style wouldn't be affected, but with the modern outfit. Yes, we can understand clearly what they playing, but with an organic feeling due the instrumental tunes (sometimes, it's like they plugged the instruments and played, without making endless digital editions). It sounds fresh and new, and energetic.

These four guys aren't here to make a musical revolution. They're here to play out loud their music, and in the hands of NAZARETH, it's more than enough. And the energy of "Never Dance With the Devil", the catchy tempos of "Tattooed On My Brain" and on "State of Emergency" (both with excellent vocals, showing that Carl was a fine choice for the job), the Rock 'n' Country scent of "Push" and on "The Secret is Out" (both showing great guitars), the Southern heavy weight called "Crazy Molly" (very good work from bass guitar and drums), the brutal Hard Rock grasp of "Silent Symphony" (a heavy song, with very good melodic lines) and of "What Goes Around" are fine examples that they're still relevant, still unleashing a great and energetic musical work.
