MADWORK is an Italian band formed in 1999 hailing from Italy, this second effort entitled "Obsolete" is a well produced album with a mellow sounding, lots of keyboards and electronic effects on the background and nice guitar solos along with it, it is a very easy listening album if you want to seat in the lounge smoke a cigarette ad watch the world goes by it is perfect. However, I think that after a while that lounge feel doesn't quite have that sweet taste to it, thus making me turning it away in some point in favour of some action.
Thinking about it, I wondered what is it? What is the nature of "Obsolete"? For sure it is not Metal, the influences are a mix of DEPECHE MODE, LINKING PARK and KORN if you like those kind of bands then that is going to be for you, certainly it is not for me. Generally, as I mentioned it can be a soothing affair, yet I believe that this release lacks the ability to ignite the fire within a Metalhead's burning heart. I have the notion that fans of the bands that I mentioned would probably wish to follow through this album and seek out for more. On the other hand, as a Metalhead, it is hard to connect to such a creation, infested with what I perceived as Techno Music.
It can be rendered as quality stuff, however, a hard digest.
