In the tradition of AC/DC, AIRBOURNE or D-A-D, LUCER is formed around two charismatic brothers, Lasse Bøgemark and Anders Bøgemark, with drummer Jonathan Nørgaard. Their sound is also in perfect concordance with the aforementioned bands.
While their record company has rated LUCER as "probably the most promising hard rock band out of Denmark in a decade...Or as just a fucking great rock'n'roll band", LUCER are coming at you fast and vigorously with the help of the promotion tools of the modern days...Here is a short summary of the Mighty Music marketing press kit. LUCER, despite their young age, have already played 70+ shows in Denmark, Sweden and Germany; the next step was to get LUCER into a professional studio. One thing is being a great live act, another is hitting the nail recording. Soren Andersen (GLENN HUGHES/MIKE TRAMP) and Medley Studio was the obvious choice.
In only one intense day , the boys recorded two songs, "Working In The Moonshine" and a cover version of CLIFF RICHARD's "Devil Woman". Shortly after, our young friends were introduced to ex WHITE LION/FREAK OF NATURE's vocalist Mike Tramp.
Getting Tramp involved as a mentor turned out to be a good idea, as the chemistry between him and the band was both positive and constructive. Tramp continues to be onboard as a mentor for the band. Mike Tramp says; "You can't deny the energy that happens when an unspoiled youthful rock band put the pedal to the metal and crank it up to 11. It almost makes you wanna go back and and re-live it yourself again. Great to see a new band emerging from the shores of Denmark, that even I like and approve of." The rest is history... LUCER did what they had to do and more in the studio, and the result is this self-titled, 7" vinyl release/digital download".
Ok, now here is my advice: Honestly it's a good band with juvenile energy and tons of stamina, but you've heard this sound 10,000 times before. I suppose that they will make some impression on a few underground club stages, but to me, their music is too simplistic to be praised so loud. I don't think they can compete with the other talented Danish bands signed by Mighty Music/Target Records namely THE KILLERHERTZ/SHOTGUN REVOLUTION/SAINT REBEL or even STATEMENT. Of course, the prolific scene from Denmark is filled with Extraordinary acts such as KING DIAMOND / PRETTY MAIDS / ROYAL HUNT / FATE / MERCENARY / VOLBEAT / ARTILLERY / SEVEN THORNS / BLACK SUCCUBI / SCAMP /ANUBIS GATE /RASPERRY PARK and of course MALRUN. So it's pretty difficult to take seriously the quote by Michael H. Andersen, CEO & A&R for Target Group/Mighty Music, when he wrote : "I seriously can't think of the last time I saw a Danish rock band that made such an honest and big impression on me. I just knew I had to work with these boys". This is clearly not my view!
Marketing is a double edge sword and should be handled with much care...Oh yeah, and don't forget to check out the video for the first single, "Working In The Moonshine", which was filmed at a moped club on Copenhagen.
