Redemption Through Looseness

At last! A release that has nothing to do with Metalcore, Black Metal and Death Metal! I was starting to get tired of all those things! They are not bad, but a refresh from time to time wouldn't hurt me! Anyway, I finally get to review something that belongs to the latest and most interesting genres in Heavy Metal. KRUGER explain that we have to relax, be loose and see redemption, the KRUGER way!
The band was formed in 2001 by members of bands like SLUDGE, SWEET DISEASE and RUDE, when those bands were going through a period of inactivity. They debuted with the pretty good Built For Speed in 2002. After their debut effort, KRUGER had the chance to share the stage with the likes of ISIS and GOJIRA. One more album (Cattle Track) was recorded in 2004. This is the band's third full-length album.
Heavily influenced by acts like ISIS, NEUROSIS, BREACH and MASTODON, the band continues to elevate its name higher and higher in the Post Hardcore/Heavy Drone scene. Even though their influences are many, the band manages to absorb them, process them and finally create a personal sound that can be compared to the masters of the scene. The sound is raw and heavy, as the music requires. Even though the aggressive parts are always there, the band's melancholic atmosphere makes the whole album much more depressive (in a good way). KRUGER manage to not only play plain music, but also transport feelings and thoughts into the listener's mind. This album hypnotizes you and drags to another dimension where time, rhythm and reality do not matter. It is just you and the album's mystical melodies and heavy as fuck breaks. I really don't have any more words to characterize this album!
It was in 1988 when the high and mighty GODFLESH built a steady base for all these bands to come and take this music one step further. You have to be an experienced and challenging listener to realize this band's greatness. Even if you aren't such a listener, I would suggest you buy this album and give it a chance. Basically, many chances because Redemption Through Looseness definitely needs many listening sessions, as it is not a simple and catchy album.
