King Zebra
King Zebra
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: KING ZEBRA; signed independently, hailing from Switzerland grounds - performing Rock, on their new self-titled EP. Since formation in 2009; the band in question have an album, a greatest hits compilation and this here self-titled EP in their discography so far. 5 tracks ranging at around 17:09; KING ZEBRA arrange an intricately designed formula of heavy-hitting Rock developments. "That's What I Like" begins the EP; conveying amplified adrenaline, boisterously bouncy energy and a barraged frenzy of flamboyantly composed hooks in which creates concretely gnarly fabrications. Consisting of Eric St. Michaels on lead vocals; the front man demonstrates a diligent flair of clean, high-pitched pipes that showcase quintessential rhythms and adroitly harmonic haste of hardened dynamics. Somewhat providing a slight tribute of Paul Di'anno (first IRON MAIDEN vocalist), portraying their unique twist of versatile utilization.
"Firewalker" comes next; orchestrating complex dexterity from duo guitarists Lauer (on lead/vocals) & Jerry (on rhythm/vocals), implementing inventive dosages of consistently blistering thunder with relentlessly rambunctious techniques. The pair rivet with vehement stability; supplying wondrous prodigious substance, polished with organic fluidity and distinctive contrast. The rocking "Like A Hurricane" transitions solid slabs of soundscapes; progressively technical tempos & razor-sharp pursuits of persistent stability, juxtaposed with meaty manifestations – meticulous melodies & powerhouse pounding from hammering drummer Ben, as be batters his steel with profusely robust sophistication. The titular track injects infectious audibility from bassist Michael (also on vocals); fueled firepower, expertise and who pummels the strings with thumping swerve.
Overall concluding "King Zebra" with the finale song: "Bad Reputation"; which revolved with rapidly swift nimbleness, killer licks & groovy executions – KING ZEBRA embellish on experimental elements & elegantly exquisite songwriting memorability. Bottom line; while the EP is only 5 songs; the silver lining is that this is obviously but a taste of what's in store for the next record, the borderline foundation establishes frolicking finesse and constructively distinguished variety – the band certainly outdone themselves here, as I enjoyed entertaining craftsmanship of sonically seamless musicianship...worth the discovery.
