John Norum - Face It Live '97 album cover

Ok, I guess I am lucky because I had the opportunity to review two album's of John Norum. First, his 4th studio release 'Worlds Away' and now his 2nd live album called ' Face It Live '97'. I totally love live albums cause the fan has the chance to hear how a band sounds live and we all know the audience is the most assuming judge.

I could easily describe this album with one word : 'Excellent' !! Great sound quality will make this album one of the better live albums ever released. Fortunately those of you that were lucky to see this line-up, with Leif Sundin on vocals, you were prepared. I guess this is the trickiest thing to come to terms with, that it's not Kelly Keeling or Goran Edman (as on 'Live In Stockholm') singing. I really like Leif's vocals - lots better than his chat between the songs - but I can see this causing some confusion among the listeners. The confusion might be even greater when you realize Leif's not only singing on this album but also on the most recent live album from MSG. However, Leif says he belongs with John. The guitar playing is stunning - listening to this album I know John Norum deserves better than making club gigs on the Swedish countryside. The tracks have a similarity to a 'best of...' which I think adds to the excellency. Heavy, melodic tracks performed by one of the greatest guitarists & vocalists on the planet. As I said before, the production is just great and that's a plus on the total result.

So what do I suggest? Well...if you aren't sure about 'Another Destination' and haven't got 'Worlds Away' yet, then this is the album you wish to purchase, most definitely. You won't be disappointed.
