What's up, Metal maniacs? I'm here once again to give you an insight on this Rock quintet; hailing from Australian soil, JAC DALTON.

Now, at first I was thinking, ah...another Rock band using one of the member's names as the title. I have no idea who Jac Dalton is, but one thing's for sure...he's a damn great vocalist for this range of rocking caliber. If I were to get the negatives out of the way though...it would be that the music is typical Rock you'd expect; but there are some nice elementary melodics embittered, and a lot of enjoyable moments that don't make "Powderkeg" such a disappointing release. Disappointing? Obvious, rather. It's when you know that an album is just going to be typical for what it is that it may become a tedious and an obvious release that you feel you have already heard before. Now that that's out of the way...I can focus on why JAC DALTON is indeed a talented band and their new and 3^rd album: "Powderkeg" should be listened to at least once... And that's the musical integrity each band member shares; from vocals that remind me of Biff Byford from SAXON (at times), and just catchy and powerful melodies that make this a group to behold. Jac Dalton on vocals, has this focus; Travis Grace, and Steve Pirie has some really fine instrumental value that gives you that feel good sense of tension. As I play the title track "Powderkeg", this is most evident. I believe my opinion of "typical Rock" is felt in the second song: "Blow Me Away", again, it's enjoyable; but has that, "been there, done that" feel to it. Which of course isn't a bad thing; but when it lacks originality, naturally I can't help but feel a little bored, right?

Continuing with "Roll With The Punches", I find myself enjoying the approaching efforts of Matty Nicholls on his bass; which bring more "brutal face of approval" notions...as well as Michael Giuffreda on drums...begin to show more light as the album continues to grow on me. "Sweet Emotion" has this ...cheesy... beginning to it, but has the instrumental value that makes the song much better. "Just Enough To Believe" integrates the more enjoyable side of the band; fast music with anthem based material to it, a really fun song. Jac Dalton gets more impressive with his vocal range around this part of the album...but for extreme Metal sake; nothing is really to be noted, this is a group that play typical classic Hard Rock, nothing more – nothing less.

This Rock band seem to attract the "easy" listening of Rock lovers...while I enjoyed "Powderkeg" for the most part; there wasn't too much to note, in terms of originality and memorability...If I was frank, I was a little bit disappointed, honestly. But don't let that strife you away; if you love an enjoyable rocker of a time, look no further... Production quality is spot on, but the rest, including songwriting...not so much was of note, unfortunately.
