INCITE is a Thrash/Groove metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, who got their start back in 2004. "Oppression" is their fourth album and was released in 2016 by Minus Head Records. "Oppression" has the typical flow and repetitive riffs that one identifies with Thrash Metal and make it a favourite for live concerts. I could really picture a savage mosh pit opening up during a few of these tracks - "Lost Reality" for instance.

"Never Surrender" is a strong opening, coming in with the intensity and speed you expect of Thrash, but still keeping some of that smooth sound you want out of Groove. The album as a whole is a solid offering, but one of the tracks that really stood out to me was "Stagnant", which when you think about it, is an ironic name for such a fresh track. It has the best of both worlds, for it is both harsh but also catchy.

However, it is important to note that there also isn't a particularly weak link within the bunch. With a really slick melody, "No Remorse" is certainly is a very groovy track. The title track, "Oppression" starts off riffing and pausing, setting up for a brutal Thrash attack that is definitely worth the price of admission. Likewise, "Forced Into Life" is somewhat Grunge-like but also brutal, and gets you amped up for what comes next.

Sometimes the tracks on "Oppression" repeat riffs from other songs, or simply rely on the same few bits to fill out the whole track, and that can be a major failing of Thrash as a whole. Because it's a bigger issue across the board, I don't regard it as a fault of this particular LP. The hooks are still catchy and I didn't mind letting the album roll back around on repeat and immediately listen to the whole thing again.
