Impaled Existence - These Lifeless Plains album cover

Humanity and everyday life's struggles can be looked upon through many eyes. The experience, at least the most of it especially when it serves as the food to write about, may not be so soothing. It is easier to illustrate the line of thought through the negativity of it all along with a harsher and ruthless attitude. When I listened to the EP, "These Lifeless Plains", of the young British band, IMAPLED EXISTENCE, I found just the thing.

Their theme and approach towards it weren't unique or special in a way but I believe that every artist, no matter how similar his style is to others, may have different perspective towards things. "These Lifeless Plains", in a philosophical view, this is where we are heading as people, family units and as a society if we won't change our ways and start looking at ourselves first. Believe me that these guys aren't looking on the matter through religious eyes but through logic. With that said and written, how about this band's music?

Bearing extreme type of Metal no less, as it was proclaimed on the theme same goes to the music. Modern Death Metal looked good on these guys that seemed to have tried also to mix it with a few modern Hardcore, Grind and a pack load of grooves. The material presents the known kick down machine that slams with powerful low tuned puffs along with running grind drumming and fast guitar trill outputs.

"Fictions Within The Minds", a track that I was mostly impressed by, also shared a nice solo that fitted well within its gruesome features. "Through Stinging Eyes" it's where I found a great technical form, similar to later DEATH that was not overly displayed in order to leave a bit of soul to the song. "Worthy Of Remains", the closer, had a little more melodic sense than others and was quite good in overall. "If Error Were True" has a lot of potential, that atmospheric moment of keyboards was sensational. However it had that bleak moment afterwards that was pretty dry and didn't convey anything of importance.

I see this release a good start for this newcomer group. Their style may not be genuine (Well how is that these days?), but their performance and written material showed that there is a promise behind these lifeless plains.
