Part Human, Mostly Beast
Honeymoon Disease
The rooted sound at the end of the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies came back to life. That's a reality we have to deal with, because we always have those good bands with a personalized musical work, but there are those that don't deserve our attention. But the quartet HONEYMOON DISEASE deserves a lot, because "Part Human, Mostly Beast" is a fine piece of Rock 'n' Roll.
They're a Rock 'n' Roll/Classic Rock band that plays in a melodic way, with some groove parts and with catchy choruses. For some, this description can be seen as simplistic, but their music is nothing more than that. But pay attention: even being a band without a great technical insight, their musical work is really very good, and their melodies will charm you all.
"Part Human, Mostly Beast" shows a good sound quality, where the Rock 'n' Roll essence of their music shows some raw and organic tunes, but without making the sonority moldy or dirty in a point that we couldn't understand what they are playing. The production tried to be as simple and organic as in the 70s, but with quality. And it fits in their songs in a very good way, being truly bittersweet.
In the album, you'll find 12 very good songs, being the best ones "Doin' It Again" (excellent melodies and choruses), the raw and charming energy that flows from "Only Thing Alive" (that shows good guitars), the introspective "Rymdvals" (that has a Bluesy and noir feeling), the savage and kicking trio "Fly Bird Fly High", "Calling You" and "Four Stroke Woman" (the three shows excellent arrangements and fine choruses), and the charming "It's Alright" with a tender work on vocals. They are a very good band, indeed, and "Part Human, Mostly Beast" is really a charming album.
