Hellion - Karma's A Bitch album cover

Regarding my music taste I was first introduced to the Metal scene via bands such as WITHIN TEMPTATION, NIGHTWISH and EPICA; all excellent bands with fantastic front women. Most recently I have preferred those Metal Maidens with a tough, confident presence from the likes of BATTLE BEAST, SISTER SIN and ARCH ENEMY. The most recent band to enter this ever growing list of favoured bands is Los Angeles Metal outfit HELLION and it's thanks to their latest installment "Karma's A Bitch".

Having been in the music industry for a long time now HELLION have made more demos, EPs and albums that you could shake a stick at. With front lady Ann Boleyn at the helm of their record label too I can tell she is another admirable inspiration to all Metal Maidens including myself.

This EP provided the ideal pick me up on my way to my day job this morning on a crisp frosty morning as the cold air prickled my cheeks. The first track "Betrayer" lures the listener into a false sense of security with an acoustic sounding tune before it cranks up the volume providing us the true intellect of what HELLION are all about; I believe that to be no-nonsense Heavy Metal.

The track "Hell Has No Fury" was a particular emphasize on my journey to work this morning; it encompassed many great qualities of a fantastic Heavy Metal song such as a fist-pumping beat from thunderous drums, straightforward melody and some excellent guitar work through the original riffs and solos.

It ends on a positive via the track "Til The End" leaving the listener wanting more so a truly outstanding EP in my opinion.
