GRANDEXIT is a most interesting band. Their sound and style is quite unique, they pull traits from many bands but the most noticeable would be THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER for their instrumentation and SYSTEM OF A DOWN for their odd vocal styles and song constructions. The music isn't as heavy or intense as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER but the technicality and Prog elements are present and very strong. This album has plenty of variety throughout, showcasing Metalcore, Deathcore, and even some Black Metal riffs; the latter of these is best heard in "Judgment of the Wicked". "Judgment of the Wicked" is definitely the stand out track and most adventurous. The solo is most obscure and doesn't seem to make sense the first listen, but on the second and third play through you begin to get a grasp for what they were going for. The vocals in this song are the most experimental if you will. There are multiple layers to them; at some parts the vocalist growls over top a section of higher more operatic vocals creating a very unique affect. The overall song structure is highly progressive and difficult to follow but it's interesting enough to make the listener curious enough to come back and try a second or third time for a better more complete understanding. The rest of the album is sort of left in the shadow of "Judgment of the Wicked".

The rest of the album is half way decent but rather lack luster. The drummer turned out quite a few complex rhythmic syncopations while the guitarists came up with neat progressive passages. This album wasn't bad by any means it just felt like it had been done before by another band. It just didn't feel fresh for me. If you are into this type of progressive Deathcore check it out.
