The story of this band, GODDESS SHIVA dates back 1977. According to their official site after having played in a teenage rock band called CRAYFISH in 1975 and '76, MAT SINNER and ARMIN SABOL thought it was time to go for something real. Being great fan of the mighty JIMI HENDRIX and FRANK MARINO's MAHOGANY RUSH, ARMIN came up with the idea to form a power trio. MAT was immediately electrified by that thought. The rest of course is history...
The personality of MAT SINNER marks this record, that's for sure. His mid tempo steady playing along with the other two members creates a steady base onto which a very nice atmosphere is created. I also enjoyed the vocal lines very much - in fact many songs have really cool choruses which stick in your brain at once. In addition to all other things said, there are indeed many cool lead parts thrown here and there throughout the record. On the whole you are about to listen to some classic melodic hard rock stuff anthemed by some metal touch here and there. You must also check out the quite interesting instrumental Ali Baba which creates a nice oriental type atmosphere in this album. If you are a fan of melodic AOR or cool heavy based rock then you must definitely check them out. They play honest mid - tempo hard rock quite heavy influenced most of the time. Highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones: Walking On Thorns , Mind Of A Killer , Barefoot And Naked and Heat Of The Night .
