FURIOUS TRAUMA is a Thrash Metal band from Copenhagen, Denmark. They have a long career and long distance of time from each of their release. Their latest album was released in 1999, and now they have released their newest one "Decade At War" in 2020 and that is what we are going to talk about.
The opening track from the album is "Prelude To War" and it starts with an acoustic guitar and percussions between the chords. It feels like a real prelude to war, and it gave me the idea that this album was going to be something between Melodic Death Metal and Folk, which is not. "Decade To War" is the title-track of the album and it starts with a drum with flanzer pedal effect on it. The song is direct and will hit you in the face, as the Thrash Metal attack comes as soon as it starts. The vocals are kind of guttural, and they sound nice.
"Heroes To Hail" starts with a guitar riff that is more Heavy Metal and Hard Rock but the drums manage to keep it Thrash. The song is nice, and the structure is very simple. "Plague Of The New World" seems to be more technical when it comes to the instrumental, and it even has something to do with Death Metal at some points.
"Ultimate Divine" have a Punk N' Roll vein, it's fast, direct and even the vocal lines are different from the previous songs. I like the guitar licks and solos, it made the song have a great energy. I guess it sounds nice live, and also, you will be able to hear some clean vocals that made the chorus more dynamic. "Hooligan" starts with a nice bass line and the guitar riffs are into Groove Metal - actually, the whole song is more into the mentioned sub-genre. I liked it, because it created a different dynamic to the album.
"Comin' Home" is an epic song with around 9m30 length, and it starts progressively. It shows a different side of the musicians, and I liked the ambiance that they created in here. The drums were better used, and the guitars were better structured as well. There is more use of backing vocals and it does feel like a more elaborated song. Good one.
"Damage Done" starts with a SLAYER vibe and the beginning reminded me from the Season In The Abyss album. It's a nice song, and a very powerful one. "The Cartoon" starts fast and with the 1980's Thrash Metal instrumental ambiance. The bass sound is really heavy on that one, and the vocals are a little bit different. I like how they can switch the vocal styles to adapt better to each of their songs.
"Lex Talionis" starts with a nice guitar solo, simple but god rhythm guitar and nice bass and drums. I thought this song was going to turn into some sort of Melodic Death Folk Metal, but it became a Groove Metal with great quality. "War Of The Gods" starts extremely fast and that is the song where people will get their nose bleeding in the goddamn pit. That song is only two and a half minutes, but it might make their hands fall off after their play it. What a great song.
"We Are Furious" starts with a very heavy guitar riff and its pure Thrash again. They were furious when writing it, and I like that you can really feel it. "We Salute You" have different guitar riffs, and they might even sound a little bit Technical Death Metal at some parts. This song was really well written and have a great chorus. "Born Of The Flag is a re-recorded version of the song, and it does sounds pretty nice. That is what this band is all about: pure Thrash Metal and destroying everything that comes their way.
"Chaos Within" is the last song from their album and its also a re-recording version, and it starts with an incredibly aggressive riff. That song is really nice and you can see influences of Rock N' Roll on the guitar solo, which created a different ambiance in the song. Good stuff.
FURIOUS TRAUMA have written and released a nice Thrash Metal album, with a lot of energy, force and power. I think that fifteen songs is too much for an album, but they managed to add something different in each song that didn't made it sound boring. Cool stuff guys, keep rocking and don't stop!
