Trends or fashion genres in Rock/Metal are disgusting. Since I was a teenager, when a genre into this vast musical universe we live in comes to light, I come to be full of it to the point of abandoning the genre for some time, even years. In complex and vast musical genres as Metal and Rock, hear again and again a same subgenre make we all become full of it. Some bands turn our listening to their work even hard due these conditions. But even in this way, good names as North American band FREEDOM HAWK appear from time to time with good works, as their first album called "Freedom Hawk". It's a new release from their first album, released originally on 2009.

They play that raw and thunderous form of Stoner Metal/Rock in a vein that reminds a lot the work from names as MONSTER MAGNET and BLACK SABBATH. But they have musical personality; we can hear it clearly on their songs filled with musical weight, good and easy melodies, and raw and bitter musical aggressiveness. It's nothing new at all, but it is good. The sound quality bounds together a raw and organic sound, with a melodic and aggressive insight. But the sound quality is clear to a point that allow us all to understand what they are about, what the band is playing. These abrasive instrumental tunes are a wise choice, because their songs sound alive in this way.

The bitter guitar riffs and energy of "On the Other Side", the catchy and easy melodies heard on "My Road" and "Ten Years" (both songs presenting very good work on bass guitar and drums), and the experimental touches that can be heard on "Hollow Caverns" are their best moments on the album. But as it has only seven songs, I believe that the fans will ask for more, and start to hear it repeatedly. Although it isn't a new musical work, and it's a release in the middle of a trend, "Freedom Hawk" is a very good album.
