This Normality Is Madness

"This Normality Is Madness" is such the anti-conformist message from the Hungarian rip-core band FORBIDDEN NOISE. Consisting of straightforward fourteen minutes of a contented, yet promising blend of what lies somewhere between progressive metal and core. While we needn't identify any genre as acoustic, pleasure is priority. The simple fact that the opening track "Taken By The Tides" is unexpectedly inspired by "Au Lecteur" of CHARELS BAUDELAIRE (whom I deem one of the pioneers of metal spirit are captured along with that of GIACOMO LEOPARDI) stroke me deeply as it tells a whole load about where these guys come from musically as well as their specific state of mind. Such unfading muses set the groundwork of a sturdy vocal track of fused adept overdubs of growls and screams by ÁDÁM BALOGH. Albeit I had some reservations about the drums sounding computerized, over and above the guitar tap passages - massively contributing though at times detrimental to the track - the consistent palm-mute riff was a worthy front line indeed.
To boot, what deserves a stop and notice is the incessant traffic and the bunch of ideas within such short tracks and a narrow time-frame. Take "Upward" for illustration with its whirling passages - although it could have done much better ( much is due to the backing vocals), it did demonstrate a potential that FOBIDDEN NOISE made the not of in the brilliant "Wolves Are Among Us", where the drums gracefully progresses from condensed rock groove to volatile core double bass beats before eloping to a thoroughly different dimension: a heavenly pause from the pre-defined genre with a dazzling contrast between the growls and the serene side sticks, a mingle of smooth female guest vocal as well as clean vocals softly terminated on a piano tune. And don't you worry, most successful artists have split personalities!
Though undeniably in need for more polishing, FORBIDDEN NOISE extended to wide horizons thus actually putting the fetus of a record outperforming some renowned over-commercialized material you can browse on net, leading to a heart-refreshing hope that this is just the beginning for this band.
