FIREWIND seems to enjoy noteworthy success in the Metal world. And that's fair enough, since the Greek band has worked rather hard to develop some music worth mentioning plus they undoubtedly used the right 'tools' to promote/defend their creations. From the quintet's latest album - Allegiance - comes the second single, Breaking The Silence and - I think - releasing two singles off a 2006 Heavy/Power Metal album means, the other way out, we made it!?
Breaking The Silence is a straightforward 'riffing' song, rolling down in classic Metal chords supported by Euro Power keys. The song is a STRATOVARIUS/KAMELOT mix, bearing in mind the presence of Teresa's beautiful vocals (oriental breaks in her voice did I notice, at times). The song is radio-friendly, for the FIREWIND standards, while the guitar solo is nothing less than blistering. Healing Tool, on the other hand, is a track form the Allegiance sessions (previously released in Japan only as a bonus track). It's more pounding and proper for some double-bass headbanging, while the 'star' of Mark Cross (HELLOWEEN, SARACEN, WINTER'S BANE, METALIUM, KINGDOM COME, NIGHTFALL) shines allover this RAGE-inspired tune.
A live take of Till The End Of Time (from the Allegiance album, too), recorded in Salzburg, Austria in late 2006 and the promo video of Breaking The Silence (directed by Patric Ullaeus, known for his work with DIMMU BORGIR, WITHIN TEMPTATION etc) wrap up this CDs release. I'd propose to grab the Allegiance album itself - if not already grabbed - since it's an impressive album all the way. Still, for your FIREWIND fanatic needs this CDs is really a good add-on: a (Japan excluded) new tune and a bonus video is good news for Gus G.'s supporters.
P.S.: This CDs is released only for the Greek market, so it can already be considered as a collector's item...
