FINAL SOULTION formed in 2011 and hails from Italy. During their early years FINAL SOLUTION focused on Melodic Death Metal covers like that of SOILWORK, ARCH ENEMY, AT THE GATES, and IN FLAMES. Recording for their debut album "Through The Looking Glass" begin once lineup changes had solidified in 2015. After one more member change during recording, they were finally able to release this album mid 2016. ""Through The Looking Glass" is a journey inside the human consciousness." Everyday, we all have to face the evil within and this album brings some of that to life. It comes in with eight tracks and a listening time of just under 34 minutes.

The opening track, "Awakening" is beautiful Atmospheric experience. It starts off really low with a deep rumble and increasingly gains strength through the orchestral elements. The added angelic vocals elevate this track into a cryptic-like stance allowing the start of the "Awakening" journey to commence. "Sick Of You" brings out their Melodic Death Metal sound. The pure power in the opening portion of this track is enough hook you, if the open track wasn't able to. There is a vocal distortion at the very start but evens out within seconds. It is enough to hear it, but not enough to be much of a distraction. The vocals have a Classic Metal vibe with deeper variations. The guitars rip the whole track, the drums are perfectly done, and there is tons of bass love. This track is angry, gritty, and full of energy.

Track five, "The Show Is On", has so much melody. The musical elements in this track catapulted it to my favorite track on the album. The vocals, have contrast between the clean and an oh so deep vocal. This entire track is screams musicianship in a way that isn't shown in the rest of the album. There are so many elements alive in this track. "(R)Evolution" is a stunning one minute instrumental interlude. The keys and orchestral presentation is almost a tease. However, with that tease comes a sense of knowing. Not only in the journey of the music, but in the FINAL SOLUTION's journey as a band. They have a natural calling to actively combine different styles and still keeping the natural flow of the album.

The final track, "Grey" is another favorite. There is so much melody and technicality here that you almost forget what you are listening to. This is another bass heavy track with lower guitars and heavier drums. Being one of the longer tracks on the album they have some room to show off, and they do. There was another vocal distortion in this track, but again, a super quick blip that doesn't devalue the flow of the track whatsoever. FINAL SOLUTION's debut album shows they are truly able to create remarkable music. The vocals will be hit or miss for some, but the musical elements presented in "Through The Looking Glass" are genre demolishing, extreme, technical, and down right good.
