Ektomorf - What Doesn't Kill You album cover

EKTOMORF is one of the bands that have troubled me the most regarding various issues. Its sudden exposure, its obvious similarity to another well known band and many more. After listening to several albums and spending some time knowing this band I reached my conclusion which is... EKTOMORF fucking rule bitches! Whether you like it or not!

The Hungarian metallers have several releases under their belt and after making a respectable name in the Metal scene with probably the biggest Metal label Nuclear Blast Records they decided it was time for a change. So, after successful albums like Instinct and Outcast, EKTOMORF release their new bastard child entitled What Doesn't Kill Me through their new home AFM Records.

The music is the same. Simple and descriptive song titles, simple and straight in your face raw music and a great mix between groove and aggression. That's exactly what EKTOMORF are all about. Many people tried to accuse them of ripping off SOULFLY, probably based on their sudden success. There might be a similarity with SEPULTURA's Roots era, but the fact is that the specific people didn't study enough. For you who don't know, EKTOMORF is a bit older than SOUFLY and the music they play now is not that different from what they did back then. So, with all the respect FUCK OFF!

The down tuned heavy as hell guitars, the renovated rhythm section (with the addition of Murvay Szaroics) and Zoltan's angry voice accompanied with his rebellious lyrics are the elements that form the puzzle we call EKTOMORF. Since the Hungarian rebels never tried to do any groundbreaking moves and they always tried to keep their music simple and straightforward I don't have anything else to add here. The only thing I can say is that these guys manage to amaze us for one more time with their - limitless as it seems - energy and passion. Well done guys!
