I just loved this promo from the very first time I laid my eyes on it for a simple reason, the message on its back. No gore, no porn. Grind! That's exactly what this split release is all about. No "funny" Porngrind, no macho brutal gore stuff, just straight in your face Grindcore from two talented Austrian bands. Let's take them down one by one...

DISTASTE, who "own" the first half of this release hail from Linz, a city located in upper Austria. Their Grindcore is the one you have fallen in love with because of bands like NASUM, ROTTEN SOUND etc. You know, this heavy as fuck and noisy Grindcore with the incredibly violent outbreaks. The guys have managed to form their influences into something of their own and deliver a holocaust of up tempo Swedish Grindcore without being clones of the aforementioned bands. It didn't actually take me that long to fall in love with these guys and I am damn sure I will be keeping an eye on them from now on. Yeah, I'm a real sucker for Grind bands that know what groove is!

BASTARD PEELS (hell, I was almost sure this was a British band at first) is a more traditional Grind band with some minor Death Metal fragments here and there. Their sound is totally straightforward and old school, with "rotten" guitars and a damn rotten sound! The vocals are also a bit more classic compared to the ones DISTASTE features. If you are into stuff like REPULSION, TERRORIZER and NAPALM DEATH then BASTARD PEELS will surely have something for you, although the truth is they could use a bit more work, since they lack the energy this music requires.
Thumbs up for both bands for the covers! I love when I see music scenes united like this (with Grindcore being probably the most united scene in Metal).
