Have wondered how the DIN BRAD album"Dor" did end up to be reviewed by Metal-Temple. Also wondered why the download said Folk Metal. Since the album "Dor" by DIN BRAD brought throughProphecy Productions has absolutely nothing to do with Metal. According to their Facebook page their genre can't be found inside Folk or Metal, but inside the Traditional Romanian Soundscape.
Guess that the Traditional Romanian landscape does include a lot of desert, because the Soundscape did sound like an endless sad trip through the desert and I highly doubt that I'm the right person to review "Dor", simply because this is so not my cup of tea that I had a real struggle to make it through this kind of sadness. My repeat button did break down before I made it through the first spin and I had to gain courage to listen to it at least once totally. Still.... I also did find a good laughter that kept me giggling for a while when I saw my entire household struggle with that one total spin too.
However the drummer did make some entertaining efforts and so did the panpipe player, but too short for my taste. The singers are way too much up front throughout the entire album in an energy draining kind of way and there's just too little music involved to talk about balance.
"Dor" from DIN BRAD's not for this Metal Fan, but the world is big and I am sure that there are fans to find for Traditional Romanian Soundscape somewhere..... Guess that when it comes to Metal I felt like rating this band with 1/10, but figured that the smooth drum sound and sweet panpipe did earn some credit.
