Demiricous - One album cover

I don't see any good reason for this release to exist. Although the front cover artwork is teasing (black/grey color is a guilty pleasure for some of us), there's no strong possibility a Metal/Thrash fan will find some musical value equal to the amount of money he'll say 'bye bye' to at the local CD shop. In addition, this is not the only band tryin' to capture the Slayer sound on their behalf.
Indianapolis, IN drifters Demiricous exist for about five years. Still, this is their first official effort on CD (a self-financed EP released in prior) as Metal Blade saw interest in the band and inked a deal. Demiricous have gained enough 'onstage' experience by playing along with bands in the likes of Exodus, Malevolent Creation, King Diamond, The Black Dahlia Murder and Obituary.
To cut a long story short, the band is placing its music mostly into the Slayer 'field', with some small dozes of both Swedish Death Metal and New American Metal (as if they wouldn't). But, is it good? Yeap, it's nothing bad but I found myself eager to expect the CD audition to come to an end and also get over with this review asap. And why's that? Because - sorry guys! - One features 12 tracks of completely no excitement at all! Good musicians, proper production, but (as far as the music goes) no result. Stepping on Slayer's (mainly) formulas, further 'updating' the sound to meet the other two 'requirements' mentioned above (think of Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, In Flames, The Haunted etc), Demiricous succeeded in offering a big scratch on my head 'bout what the hell I should write down about them.
Twenty years ago, this band would not achieve a contract. Not because they suck but merely for the 'spirit' you had to have back then to earn a deal. It's not their fault; just multiply 'labels' with 'artists/rosters' and tell me why the quality of today's Metal music is under strong objection by all of us.
